About Ceramic Park

Gonjiam Ceramic Park is in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do Province, home to the royal kilns that produced ceramics for the royal household for the five hundred years of the Joseon Dynasty. Gonjiam Ceramic Park is a new collective name for Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum, Spanish Sculpture Park, Ceramics shopping mall, a traditional Korean garden, and a playground for children. Since GICBiennale 2011, this park has been under development as a ceramics tourist complex to experience tradition and culture. It also has recreational facilities. Ceramic Park Photo

Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum is the centerpiece of Gonjiam Ceramic Park. It presents permanent exhibitions on ceramics dating from ancient times, when ceramics were first made in Korea, to modern times. Its primary mission is to help the general public better understand the history and tradition of Korean ceramics. It is a veritable treasure house of regional cultural heritage and offers various programs for the public.

Gonjiam Ceramic Park will open to the public in July for the duration of the summer school break with various hands-on programs for visitors to experience the Paleolithic Age. Gonjiam Ceramic Park, the final part of the new ceramics tourism cluster after Yeoju Dojasesang and Icheon Cerapia, will reveal its completely new look in 2013.
